Tuition
Workshops and Classes
tuition_buton.jpg   Workshops usually take place over weekends as this gives people who work full time a chance to experience Art Tutoring and an intense 2/3day workshop. However there are some workshops that are longer such as when we have travel to a specific region like Central Otago, Nelson or Taumanui or even Australia this year where it might be 6 to10 days.
Although I am Wellington based I can and do travel to various parts of New Zealand and as I am a fully trained Art Teacher with experience of all age groups the content is often dictated by the group employing me or in consultation with me.

I have also developed an advisory and critique role where I either work with small cooperative studio groups or privately or on a one to one basis.

My Major Principles of Teaching are...
That there are many art techniques and skills both in the doing and the seeing and I believe in passing these skills on to the student.

That each student will be encouraged to work in and make progress according to his/her style of expression.

I teach one or two classes a week in Wellington when I am in the country. One of these classes has just graduated to running itself as a cooperative “studio group” whom I visit rarely and only at a specific invitation or for a teaching purpose.

Private, weekly class and Workshop students are all encouraged to exhibit as a group at the end of each year. This is an exciting event for all concerned and is used as a framing and selling experience. It is organised by a committee of students and there are always good sales from this. Other students have progressed to exhibiting with others or as a Solo Artists……ie Karen Mills: www.artistik.co.nz Deorwyn Baker, Shelley Feehan, Viv Maidaborn, Barbara Saunders, Robin Riley and Philippa Wilson
